Symposium to Address Cyber Mission Readiness in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
• Article
February 17, 2026—As artificial intelligence (AI) transforms the cyber threat landscape and our defensive capabilities, cyber mission readiness (CMR) is changing rapidly. The Software Engineering Institute (SEI) is holding a free, in-person symposium for U.S. government agencies, the military, and their contractors to explore challenges and emerging solutions for building and sustaining cyber- and AI-ready individuals and teams. Registration is now open for Cyber Mission Readiness in the Age of AI, to be held March 12 in Arlington, Virginia.
Researchers and engineers from the CERT Division of the SEI will discuss how AI is redefining what it means to be cyber mission ready. They will also demonstrate Crucible, an open source framework that integrates learning management, hands-on labs, team exercises, competitions, threat sharing, and AI models into a unified cyber readiness platform. Attendees will learn
- how to leverage AI to build cyber capacity and effectively share threat information across organizations
- techniques for motivating performance through cyber-challenge competitions
- methods for using AI to assist in developing cyber-skills mastery via guided self-assessment
- AI-driven strategies for forging elite teams prepared for cyber and cognitive operations amid nation-state competition
While this symposium is open to all, priority will be given to U.S. government agencies, the military, and their contractors, who should register with their .gov or .mil email address. Participants can try Crucible, one of the SEI's CMR solutions.
Symposium attendees will have opportunities to connect with each other and join an SEI-sponsored network of CMR professionals.
