The SEI has three technical divisions. Each has a specific concentration, but work often spans divisions and teams.
The CERT Division is a leader in cybersecurity and partners with government, industry, law enforcement, and academia to improve the security and resilience of computer systems and networks. CERT experts develop advanced methods and technologies to counter large-scale, sophisticated cyber threats, working closely with the Department of Homeland Security to set research goals in areas such as data collection and mining, statistics and trend analysis, computer and network security, incident management, insider threats, and software assurance.
Software Solutions Division
The Software Solutions Division (SSD) works with government, industry, and academia to address the challenges presented when software-reliant systems must deliver critical capabilities without compromising quality or reliability. SSD experts use an interdisciplinary approach to improve lifecycle engineering technologies and assure complex systems. We also provide support to individual programs to help them meet their capability goals, from acquisition through sustainment.
Emerging Technology Center
The SEI Emerging Technology Center helps the government stay on the edge of technology by identifying, demonstrating, extending, and applying emerging software technologies to meet critical government mission needs. We focus on promoting government knowledge of emerging technologies and their application while shaping and leveraging academic and industrial research.
